Schedule of the tour
DAY 1: Rome – Punta Ala
Arrival at Rome Fiumicino Airport. Rental car pick up (if requested – upon supplement). Overnight
DAY 2: Grosseto – Uccellina Park
Breakfast at the hotel. Your Maremma trip starts with a Grosseto tour, the main centre of the area; visit the hidden corners of this fascinating and very beautiful town by walking down the main street and exploring the area full of kitsch dresses shops and small restaurants. Free lunch.
After a morning walk, tour discovering downtown Grosseto (visiting: Duomo and archaeological museum), leave the town and go to the countryside; afternoon tour of the biggest natural protected area of Maremma: Parco dell’Uccellina. Spend the rest of the day walking through the various paths or simply relaxing on the beach of the natural area. Before going back to the hotel pay attention and try to see a “vacca maremmana” Maremmana’s cow. Return to Punta Ala and overnight.
DAY 3: Manciano – Montemerano
After breakfast at the hotel, leaving for Manciano, famous centre in Valle del Fiora, known for its City Hall ; furthermore, stop to visit the Prehistorical and Ancient Art Museum of Valle del Fiora inaugurated in 1985 aiming to describe life of the people from the Paleolithic to the Bronze Age, before the Etruscan Civilization. Free lunch in a local restaurant and, in the afternoon, proceed to Montemerano; it has been recently nominated as one of the most beautiful Italian villages. Montemerano is a casket of treasures of Medieval architecture, especially San Giorgio church that is completely frescoed. On your way back you meet Punta Ala, and stop in a restaurant located by the see foe a delicious fish dinner. Back to the hotel, overnight.
DAY 4: Saturnia – Wine Tasting in Maremma
Breakfast at the hotel then leaving to Saturnia, that it a well known Spa. Before reaching the springs, you could stop and spend a little time to visit Saturnia itself, a small Maremma village located on the top of a hill above the spa springs. This small and lively village is located close to an Etruscan Necropolis along the Roman Street Clodia, between the Aurelia and the Cassia Streets. Once reached the spa springs, you could enjoy the lux of relaxing by the pool of Terme di saturnia, wher sun shadows and sun beds are. Free lunch.
After this relaxing morning, it is time for a Wine Tasting Experience: during the last ten years Maremma has become well known for exquisiteness in food and wine. You visit and taste optimums wines of the main cellars of the area such as Rocca di Frassinello (designed by Renzo Piano with a modern design recalling a Greek Theater), Le Mortelle (a modern farming estate by providing organic cultivation), Petra Wine (designed by the famous architect Mario Botta), and Agriturismo Argentiera, characterized by a monumental and historical structure. Back to the hotel and overnight.
DAY 5: Argentario Coast
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will spend your time by exploring the Argentario coast: Maremma has some spectacular beaches where you can have a bath. No place is more fascinating of Orbetello, a town by the lagoon. Spend the morning visiting Orbetello and try one among the many fish restaurants, then address your self again toward the cost to keep on exploring Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole or address yourself directly towards the beaches facing the panoramic route. Here you have plenty of beaches, for all kink of swimmers, for families, for couples. The place we suggest is ‘Acqua Dolce’ located just outside Porto Ercole village. Late in the afternnoon, you can enjoy a true “aperitivo” admiring a stunning sunset, awaiting for a fish dinner attending one among the many trattorie located by the sea. Back to the hotel and overnight.
DAY 6: Castiglione Della Pescaia – Sorano – Pitigliano
Breakfast at the hotel. Last day in Maremma. Leaving for Castiglione della Pescaia, another very beautiful sea town where there is one of the most appreciated beached of Italy, Le Rocchette. In the afternoon you can enjoy a visit to the Etruscan hearth of Maremma, exploring the most famous Necropolis located just by Sorano and also stop in Pitigliano, may be the most beautiful town in Maremma, completely carved in the cliff side. Back to the hotel. Overnight.
DAY 7: Maremma – Rome
After breakfast, leaving for Fiumicino Rome Airport. Relaise of the rented car (if requested). End of our services.
